Nikon Z6, Z7 Mirrorless Digital Cameras

 UNDERWATER HOUSING

A full featured and durable waterproof housing for Nikon Z6 and Z7 mirrorless digital cameras. Suitable for scuba, snorkel, surf, pool, and any application in or around the water.

This housing requires the addition of a compatible DL Lens Port for waterproof operation. Lens Port not included.

Nikon Z7 Mirrorless Camera

Nikon's first full frame mirrorless interchangeable lens camera is finally here. The weather sealed body packs a 45.7 megapixel BSI-CMOS sensor and is capable of continuous shooting up to 9 fps. Its hybrid AF system and 5-axis in-body image stabilization are usable when shooting stills or 4K ultra HD video.

In addition to the series of new Z mount lenses to be released progressively, Nikon shooters can also use their favorite F mount lenses thanks to the new FTZ Adapter.

Nikon Z6 Mirrorless Camera

Nikon's midrange counterpart features a 24.5 megapixel BSI-CMOS sensor, a hybrid AF and 5-axis in-body image stabilization. Video performance has been heralded as better than the Z7 and similar to the Sony Alpha A7 III.

Vacuum System

The included vacuum valve allows you to pressurize the housing to check for leaks prior to putting your expensive equipment in the water. Use of the vacuum valve requires a compatible Vacuum Pump with Gauge # 47011, sold separately.

There is no greater assurance than being able to see your camera and o-ring seal through the back of the housing. Our signature open-groove design suspends the rear o-ring in a natural position that is easier to maintain and more reliable than forcing the o-ring into a channel. Once the housing is closed you can see the o-ring form a solid, waterproof seal.

Controls and Set-Up

Shutter and AF-ON levers stand out with super sensitive and natural feeling curved levers.  Both controls can be extended using the optional Trigger Extension # 4077.93 for more comfortable use when using a right-hand quick release handle.

All push button controls are machined and hard anodized aluminum to reduce weight and resist salt build-up. The back of the housing is laser engraved with control symbols which will never fade or fall off.

The camera mount is front-loading for easy installation and removal. A small mounting plate attaches to the bottom of the camera and secures in the front of the housing. The camera mounting plate does not need to be removed from the camera for surface use or when changing the battery or memory cards. The mounting plate features a 1/4-20 threaded mount on the bottom so that it can be attached to a tripod on the surface.

Handling & Travel

The housing, tray, and handles have been optimized to reduce weight while maintaining strength and durability. The Right-Hand Quick Release Handle # 4077.02 (sold separately) can be added or removed depending on your needs. The precision machined aluminum base features 1/4-20 tripod mounting sockets and additional mounting locations for future accessories. The base and handle can be quickly removed when breaking down your system for travel.

A 1/4-20 threaded mounting point is located front and center on the housing above the lens port mount. This mount can be used to attach lightweight accessories like a focus light or GoPro camera.

If you're shooting with two strobe or lighting arms, then a top handle can be added to carry to and from the dive site. Top handles are available in a Cable Grip # 4080.07 or Aluminum Top Handle # 4080.08. The rigid aluminum version provides additional mounting points for lighting and accessories.

Adding a dedicated focus light to your top mount or strobe arm is highly recommended for more accurate autofocus in low light settings.

Construction

Our new ABS-PC blend front is durable, provides improved contrast and visibility, keeps your camera running cooler in the sun, and is significantly lighter weight than aluminum alternatives.

Every housing is made in the USA, individually inspected for fit, and water pressure tested to 200 feet (60m).

Sony Alpha A7 III, A7R III, A9 Mirrorless Cameras

 UNDERWATER HOUSING

A full featured and durable waterproof housing for Sony Alpha A7 III, A7R III, and A9 Mirrorless cameras. Suitable for scuba, snorkel, surf, pool, and any application in or around the water.

Vacuum System

The included vacuum valve allows you to vacuum test the housing to check for leaks prior to putting your expensive equipment in the water. Combined with a full view of the camera and o-ring seal through the back of the housing, there is no greater assurance that your gear will be safe. Our signature open-groove design suspends the rear o-ring in a natural position that is easier to maintain and more reliable than forcing the o-ring into a channel.

Use of the vacuum valve requires a compatible Vacuum Pump with Gauge # 47011, sold separately.

Controls and Set-Up

The shutter and AF-ON controls are set apart by ergonomic and sensitive curved lever actuators. Both controls can optionally be extended using the Shutter Trigger Extension # 4077.93 for more comfortable use when using a right-hand quick release handle. If you're not already using back button focus, we recommend learning this valuable trick.

All knob controls are upgraded to our new soft-touch design which gives you extra grip and feels good whether you're diving with gloves or bare hands. Our push buttons have been redesigned to reduce weight and salt build-up. The back of the housing features laser engraved control symbols which will never fade or fall off.

Control placement mimics the way you use the camera on the surface to take advantage of muscle memory and avoid the need to re-learn your camera's controls.

Rear View

The clear acrylic back provides a full view of the camera, o-ring, LCD screen. The camera's Access Lamp is visible through the back. The LCD monitor may be tilted during installation for a better viewing angle underwater.

Construction

Our new white ABS-PC blend front is stronger than its clear counterpart, provides improved contrast and visibility, and keeps your camera running cooler in the sun. This material is 1/3 of the specific gravity of aluminum, making the housing much lighter and fundamentally corrosion free.

The unique rear seal design prevents accidental twisting or stretching of the o-ring for simple and confident assembly. We have eliminated the need for an o-ring groove or channel which can trap sand, dirt, or debris. Two double-passivated stainless steel locking lid snaps are simple to use and virtually unbreakable. The clear back allows you to see the o-ring form a solid, watertight seal as it closes.

A spare 1/2-20 threaded accessory port is included on the top of the housing near the bulkhead for expansion to future uses.

Like all of our housings, this product is made in the USA, individually inspected for fit, and water pressure tested to 200 feet (60m).

Compatibility

This housing is only compatible with the Sony Alpha A7 III, A7R III, and A9 cameras as shipped by the manufacturer. Unless otherwise noted, this housing does not accommodate the use of add-on grips, battery grips, eyepieces, LCD covers, or other accessories.

Panasonic Lumix GX9 Mirrorless

 UNDERWATER HOUSING

A professional grade, compact waterproof housing for Panasonic Lumix DC-GX9 mirrorless micro four-thirds cameras. Perfect for any application in or around the water from scuba to surf to pool.

The Panasonic Lumix DC-GX9 is a solid and capable compact interchangeable lens camera. Customisable controls, a TTL flash hotshoe, and in-body 5-axis image stabilisation make it a good choice for underwater use. The GX9 features a 20MP CMOS sensor, 4K/UHD video at 24p and 30p, and a 121-point contrast-detect AF system.

True TTL exposure

Proper strobe exposure is the #1 most important contributor to sharp and colorful underwater photos, particularly below 30ft/10m. This is the only housing to include an integrated TTL circuit fine-tuned to the Panasonic GX9 flash exposure protocol for the fastest and most accurate exposure possible.

TTL communication by electrical sync cord improves camera battery life and recycle time, meaning you get many times more strobe-lit shots when you need them.

The TTL circuit is powered by the strobe for zero maintenance and no batteries to change. Exposure compensation in TTL mode is supported using the camera's built-in control.

At this time, only Ikelite DS strobes are capable of powering the TTL circuitry. Non-Ikelite strobes featuring an electrical bulkhead may be attached by sync cord but must be used in manual exposure modes only.

Extensive Lens Support

High quality yet affordable optics are available for an extensive range of micro four-thirds lenses from wide angle fisheye to macro. Our custom optical grade acrylic domes provide the color, clarity, and durability of glass at a fraction of the weight and cost. Glass flat ports are available for macro lenses.

The DLM port system is designed to be tough enough for heavy surf and to provide reliability in remote locations. The lens port attaches without twisting, threading, or complex mechanisms.

Lens port sold separately. A compatible lens port is required for waterproof use. See the DLM/B Port Chart...

Controls and Ergonomics

A trigger-type shutter lever control is designed for optimal sensitivity and a natural motion when shooting underwater. The standard control hugs the side of the housing for comfortable use when hand holding. The lever can be easily extended using the optional Shutter Trigger Extension # 4077.93 for more comfortable reach when using a handle grip.

Soft-touch knobs are easy to grip with or without gloves on and provide quick access to important controls including front and rear dials and the mode control.

Hard anodized aluminum push buttons are extremely lightweight and resistant to salt build-up and corrosion. The back of the housing features laser engraved control symbols which will never fade or fall off.

Sealing and Vacuum Testing

There is no greater assurance than being able to see your camera and o-ring seal through the back of the housing. Our signature open-groove design suspends the rear o-ring in a natural position that is easier to maintain and more reliable than forcing the o-ring into a channel. Once the housing is closed you can see the o-ring form a solid, waterproof seal.

A spare 1/2-20 threaded accessory port is provided on the side of the housing for easily installation of the optional Vacuum Kit # 47012. A hand pump with gauge allows you to draw a vacuum on the housing to simulate water pressure and check for leaks prior to entering the water.

Every unit is water pressure tested to 200 feet (60m) before it leaves our facility in Indianapolis.

Durability and Corrosion Free Performance

A custom ABS-PC blend housing provides strength and performance year after year with minimal maintenance. The ABS-PC material is fundamentally corrosion-proof and considerably lighter than aluminum. The specially formulated color deflects the sun to keep your camera running cooler, longer. Compared to black or clear housings, the light color provides superior contrast for enhanced view of the camera, LCD screen, and o-ring seal.

Made in USA

Ikelite products are designed, built and tested in the USA. We use locally sourced, top-grade materials. Our housings are built by hand and individually tested for fit and function. We back our products with over 50 years of experience and the best reputation for service within the dive industry.

Panasonic Lumix DC-G9 Micro Four-Thirds Mirrorless

A full featured and durable waterproof housing for Panasonic Lumix DC-G9 Micro Four-Thirds Mirrorless cameras. Suitable for scuba, snorkel, surf, pool, and any application in or around the water.

The Panasonic Lumix DC-G9 is built for speed. It boasts a large 20MP Four-Thirds CMOS sensor, fantastic in-body image stabilization, and an updated autofocus system. The metal body is weather-sealed with a bright articulating rear LCD display and large, high resolution electronic viewfinder. The DC-G9 supports high-speed UHS-II media, captures Ultra HD 4K video at up to 60p, and features a high speed mode capable of up to 180 fps in Full HD.

Lens Ports

This housing features our robust Dry Lock (DL) port system. "Dry Lock" refers to the placement of the o-ring on the outside of the port mount. This improves visibility of the seal and reduces the chances of water dropping onto your precious camera sensor. DL ports are the lightest on the market, yet robust and capable of standing up to rough surf. Attachment is quick and secure. A system of extensions can accommodate a huge variety of lenses with ease.

Most popular zoom lenses and select lens focus rings can be engaged using a simple yet effective gearing system that puts adjustment right at your fingertips. A large, soft-touch lobed knob on the side of the housing makes fine tuned adjustments a breeze. Zoom and focus gears differ depending on which lens you are using. All are lightweight and affordable. Refer to the DL System Port Chart to choose the correct gear. Zoom gears sold separately.

Legacy Four Lock Port Compatibility

Due to differences in mount diameter and zoom engagement, DL and FL system ports cannot be used interchangeably. The DL port mount may be removed using a T15 Torx bit and replaced with old style Port Locks for FL Port System (Set of 4) # 5509.04 for legacy users with standard or modular ports from our Four Lock system. This modification will prevent the use of newer DL ports. Re-installation of the DL port base will require the housing to be returned to Ikelite or an Authorized Dealer and may incur additional service charges. The housing cannot be converted back and forth repeatedly.

There are significant advantages to upgrading your lens ports which you can read about here. If you're shooting an 8" diameter dome, you'll also save almost 2 pounds by switching to the DL version.

TTL Exposure

This housings supports your choice of shooting manual strobes or adding TTL electronics depending on your application.

You can enjoy the fastest and most accurate TTL exposure on the market by adding the PT1K Panasonic TTL Kit with Hotshoe # 46031 and a compatible Ikelite DS strobe. Exposure compensation can be used added or subtracted in the camera.

The flash bulkhead has been moved to the top of the case for improved cord routing and reduced strain. Reliable locking connectors between the hotshoe and bulkhead make it easy to install the optional TTL electronics or carry back up parts when traveling to remote locations.

Controls and Set-Up

Shutter and AF/AE Lock levers stand out with super sensitive and natural feeling curved levers.  Both controls can be extended using the optional Shutter Trigger Extension # 4077.93 for more comfortable use when using a right-hand quick release handle.

Construction

Our new ABS-PC blend front is stronger than its clear counterpart, provides improved contrast and visibility, and keeps your camera running cooler in the sun. ABS-PC is significantly lighter than aluminum and is fundamentally corrosion-proof.

Every housing is made in the USA, individually inspected for fit, and water pressure tested to 200 feet (60m).

Non-Ikelite Strobes

SEA&SEA, INON, and Retra strobes with an electrical connection can be triggered in manual exposure modes using an electrical sync cord. Strobes without an electrical sync cord connection cannot be attached to this system unless slaved off of a hard-wired strobe.

Ikelite Non-Digital Strobes

The E-M10 Mark III features a 16MP CMOS sensor, 4K/UHD video at 24p and 30p, and a 121-point contrast-detect AF system.

True TTL exposure

Proper strobe exposure is the #1 most important contributor to sharp and colorful underwater photos, particularly below 30ft/10m. This is the only housing to include an integrated TTL circuit fine-tuned to the Olympus O-MD E-M10 Mark III flash exposure protocol for the fastest and most accurate exposure possible.

The DLM port system is designed to be tough enough for heavy surf and without complex mechanisms for supreme reliability in remote locations.

Our custom optical grade acrylic domes provide the color, clarity, and durability of glass at a fraction of the travel weight and cost. Glass flat ports are available for macro lenses.

Lens port sold separately. A compatible lens port is required for waterproof use.

Controls and Ergonomics

A trigger-type shutter lever control is designed for optimal sensitivity and a natural motion when shooting underwater. The standard control hugs the side of the housing for comfortable use when hand holding.

The AEL/AFL button is accessed by a lever for convenient access to customizable functions. Try using back button focus via the AFL button for shooting small or fast moving subjects.

Both shutter and AEL/AFL / Fn1 levers can be easily extended using the optional Shutter Trigger Extension # 4077.93 for more comfortable reach when using a handle grip.

Soft-touch knobs are easy to grip with or without gloves on and provide quick access to important controls including front and rear dials and the mode control.

Hard anodized aluminum push buttons are extremely lightweight and resistant to salt build-up and corrosion. The video record start/stop button is bright red anodized to stand out so that you never miss the action. The back of the housing features laser engraved control symbols which will never fade or fall off.

Accessory Mounting

Two 1/4-20 threaded mounting points are included on the bottom of the housing for the attachment of a tray and handle grips. Handles provide improved ergonomics underwater and are the foundation for your lighting mounts.

Sealing and Testing

Canon EOS M50, Kiss M Mirrorless UNDERWATER HOUSING

ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

A professional grade, compact waterproof housing for Canon EOS M50 and EOS Kiss M mirrorless digital cameras. This system is perfect for any application in or around the water from scuba to surf to pool.

This housing requires the addition of a compatible DLM Lens Port for waterproof operation. Lens Port not included.

The Canon EOS M50 is a great mid-range compact mirrorless camera. A TTL flash hotshoe, 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor, and 4K video capture make it a good choice for underwater use.

Constant-On Lighting

A bright constant-on video light can be used instead of or in addition to a flash. A constant-on light is not as bright as a strobe flash. Constant-on lights do provide added versatility because they can be used for focus assist and for improved colors when shooting video.

Light is absorbed as it travels through even short distances underwater, making colors appear dull or monochromatic. To preserve the natural colors of your subject, it's important to stay within arm's reach—no more than 3-4 feet (1m) away.

There is a simple rule that brighter is better underwater. A high-quality lighting system can produce magazine quality results with almost any camera system.

Camera Installation

The camera mount is front-loading for easy installation and removal. A small mounting plate attaches to the bottom of the camera and secures in the front of the housing. The camera mounting plate does not need to be removed from the camera for surface use or when changing the battery or memory cards. The mounting plate features a 1/4-20 threaded mount on the bottom so that it can be attached to a tripod on the surface.
